What Happens in Vegas….
New York still interrupted….
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS CAN’T STAY IN VEGAS FOR THIS DESIGNER
I arrived at the new Wynn ENCORE hotel last week to attend the 6th Annual Design Business Professional Network meeting with no anticipation of being wow-ed by a Las Vegas hotel. That all changed as I walked in straight from the airport to an interior space of abundant natural light, bright lipstick red lacquered walls, mosaic ceilings, gorgeous flowers, and acres of glamorous finish materials layered in whimsical, but somehow “good” taste.

Interior designer for the Wynn properties, Roger Thomas, is some kind of super hero in my book! The interior detailing is so richly appointed, and the materials all so well versed.

I loved the multitudes of vignettes placed strategically as one walked the corridors of the meeting room wing. Exotic textiles and objects carefully framed and arranged made each and every journey to the conference a delight. And, again, the opposite wall bore views of the exterior and refreshing natural desert light.

My guest room did not lack one single creature comfort. The wall surfaces were embellished with grass cloths, retro black and white hounds tooth, and a handsome faux lined wood panel paper in the bath.

The bedding, the motorized draperies, the leather vanity stool, and the crispness of the entire space were a real lift to the spirit after a long day of post recession design business talk with collegues.

Colleagues and friends from the BPN.
Details throughout the hotel’s many bars and restaurants competed for my sleep time-I wanted to experience each and every one of them!!

Elvis must be looking down from heaven on this with a big smile-he loved the color red.
