Buenos Aires to San Antonio, Part Two

So what happens to all those treasures that followed me home?

Elated  to bring such well constructed and highly decorative things back to Texas, I took all kinds of risks that took me years to archive.

I engaged an antiques guide who had been recommended by a furniture dealer I knew in the US; I committed a large (for me) sum of capital, and I boarded my plane home praying that my Argentine agents would collect all the pieces I had purchased from the many dealers, pack it safely, insure it for replacement value, and send it securely to me on that big ocean transport.

Bless all those clever, talented cabinetmakers, upholsters and craftpeople who took these weathered old souls and restored them to new life! San Antonio is rich with those who are able to look deeply and restore a piece to its original beauty while maintaining its historic value.
