Stinkdigital: Bring on the Popcorn

I came across this short film that I found pretty amazing and wanted to share.  Stinkdigital, a well-rounded team of designers, animators, film producers, and developers based out of London, have created a promotional film made for the new Philips 21:9 Cinema TV.

Director Adam Berg has generated this jaw dropping “freeze frame” film, coincidentally in 2 minutes, 19 seconds. When you click on the film below, you will see a scene of cops and robbers, with a twist. But, wait.  That’s not all.  Scroll your mouse as you watch the film, and you can control how fast or slow you would like it to go. There are also hidden spots in the film where you can grab a sneak peak of what went on behind the scenes.

The team members of Stinkdigital not only create and produce live-action films, but they also make animation, web applications, and even mobile phone applications.  Their clients have ranged from Coke to Nintendo.

So now, let’s talk about this new TV Philips is about to come out with.  The Cinema 21:9 LCD HDTV.

Yeah, it’s a beautiful 56” TV, but the icing on the cake is that its picture has been formatted to match the same movie formatting size directors use in their films. What this means is that when you pop in Mission Impossible into the DVD player, you will not see the black bars on the top and bottom of your screen due to the fact that entire film has been proportionally scaled to use up the entire screen. More pixels for your viewing pleasure.

Another feature this TV has to offer is the ambient light which glows from the back of the TV onto the wall, giving that more cinematic feeling. You can also connect this TV to your home computer, and watch online movies made to fit your TV.

So, guess what I’ll be specifying for my next client’s new media room?
